Fall Clean-Up Day, 2008 was a little different since we did not have use of the city trucks throughout our event, but thanks to Bob's initiative
and Steve's innovative map of the alleys, the event went off without a hitch. We had five drop-off points, 4 at the corners of Jackson Ward and one
at Abner Clay Park, so when the city truck did arrive at 10:30, we were all ready for them with trash nicely bagged and alley locations accurately
marked for pick-up.
The morning began with coffee, Bob's homemade biscuits, fruit, water and time to catch up with and/or meet new neighbors. Thanks to Marilyn's grand
idea of placing one of our new Clean-Up Day banners (Thank-you, Lisa, for the idea of creating the banners!)at the 2 Street Festival, we had many
new neighbors join us. And, thanks to Lt. Drew and Officer Woo, Duval Street was already done ahead of time so the rest of us could concentrate on
the remaining sections of Jackson Ward.
All went off without a hitch, we got a chance to meet our new 4th Precinct Envirnomental Officer (who proceeded to help with Clean-Up Day in the Catherine
Street alley), and everyone worked together to spruce up our beautiful Historic Jackson Ward. Thank you to each and every one of you who came out to
help!
