Clean-Up & Beautification Day, April 18, 2009
Photos by Vicki Mollenauer
Wow! What a fantastic turnout for our Spring Clean-Up & Beautification Day held this Saturday, April 18, 2009. Altria sponsored our event this time and
partnered with Hands On Greater Richmond to make this day terrific. They purchased tools, mulch, plants, gloves, bags, and picker-uppers and treated
us to a catered breakfast by Lift Coffee Shop on Broad Street. We had 35 volunteers from Altria, 9 from the College of William and Mary (who just
decided to get up a lot earlier and head our way before going to Maggie Walker's Heritage Day), and a whopping 48 volunteers from Historic Jackson Ward.
Trash was picked up on every street, sidewalk and alley in Jackson Ward and mulching, weeding and planting was done around the playground in Abner Clay
Park and in 40 tree wells along West Clay Street. Fun was had by all as we worked together to make our neighborhood even more beautiful. To see an even
more detailed telling of the events of the morning, please feel free to read the thank you letter sent out by the Clean-Up & Beautification Day coordinator,
Vicki Mollenauer. Click here, "Letter" to view the letter.
